The 2019 World Rugby Junior trophy match hasn’t turned out to be successful for a rugby team from Kenya – Chipu. They have lost that play defeated by Uruguay with a score 63-11. The game took place last night in Brazil at the Sao Jose dos Campos.
Paul Odera’s guys managed to have their only try scored right after Samuel Were, the reverse flanker was caught going beyond the whitewash with the conversion getting wider. It added two penalties against the rival. In addition to those two penalties, the African team had to face up to six conversions and nine tries against Uruguay.
As a matter of time, at halftime, the Kenyan team demonstrated the score 39-3. They proceeded with conceding more points to their fierce counterpart that managed to become champions in 2008. That’s how the African team marked their second appearance in the tournament. Previously, they hosted the tourney at the RFUEA Grounds in 2009.
In his speech that was delivered after the play, Dominic Coulson, the Kenya U20 vice-captain drew attention to the fact that the game was quite tough for the African team. He’s assured that it was hard because the counterpart came up with skilled forwards who managed to ruin the Kenyan team’s initial plan. Well, trying and going wide was the essence of their plan. Unfortunately, their rivals turned out to be very fast. They applied too much pressure on the Kenyan team depriving them of a possibility to use their strong points.
However, the Kenyan team isn’t discouraged. They still hope to become winners on Saturday when they are expected to face off with Brazil. Dominic Coulson told that it’s their chance to get things better.
