Bankers’ chase for the title fades

  • The head coach of KCB, Zedekiah Otieno famously known as Zico was not in a position to hide his frustrations after their attempt to catch up with KPL leaders Gor Mahia failed. KCB lost to Bandari 2-1 at the Kenyatta Stadium.

Zico blamed the defenders for giving John Mwita a chance to score in the second half. Bandari became the first team to defeat the bankers in both legs.

Bandari smashed the bankers in the first leg just in a similar way as the previous game. Bankers conceding to Bandari simply meant that their ambitions for the title are degrading as they trail Gor Mahia by 10 points.

“We lost the chance to slice the gap and we are disappointed. We did not defend well and I think it was a bad day in the office for us. Bandari are the first team to get six points from us and it’s something we should not have allowed,” said a gutted Zico.

His Bandari counterpart Twahir Muhiddin was full of praises for his players for the win although he expressed displeasure with the first-half display.

“We made it tough for ourselves in the first half but I am glad the boys realized their mistakes and had a decent final half,” said the former Harambee Stars head coach.
