Preview and Prediction
Both teams might have a contrastive reputation on the paper. Yet, on the pitch, such is quite on the opposite, especially in the beginning of Premier League. Brighton did not start it well at the first match but in the next ones they have shown quite an improvement. The Red Devils on the other hand were not in their best yet. This clash will be vital for both, whether their own trend will continue or cease immediately.
The teams’ previous games
Matt Ryan and Co managed to clinch a victory over Newcastle last week on the road. They trashed the host 3-0 through Neal Maupay’s brace and Aaron Connolly’s goal. They dominated the game most of the time and had several more shots of goals which could have potentially extended their lead.
Manchester United, on the other hand, seemed rather mentally unprepared for this season’s campaign after finishing the competition late due to the Europa League fixtures. They slumped to a 1-3 defeat while playing host to Crystal Palace. Their new signing, Danny Van de Beek, performed quite well and scored a goal too but his positive contribution was not enough to save his team from conceding three times by Andros Townsend and Winfred Zaha’s brace.
Graham Potter is now confident with his 3-4-3 formation after a win in St.James’s Park. Neal Maupay, Aaron Connolly and Leandro Trossard will be the main options on the attack. These three foreign forwards will be supported by the wing back Solly March and the youngster Tariq Lamptey.
Meanwhile, Ole Solksjaer seems to be in need of considering on leaving Victor Lindelof on the bench here. He was the weak spot in his teams and ‘played his role’ for the last two concessions. His companion at the back, Harry Maguire, has been distracted by his criminal case in Greece lately, which could affect his form. Thus, in his 4-2-3-1, Eric Bailly can be opted for starting IX alongside Maguire or Chris Smalling. At the front, Solskjaer seriously needs more qualified back up apart from Idion Ighalo, especially when Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford are not in their top form.
Players to watch
Brighton’s forwards apparently are ready to shine this season. The like of Neal Maupay and Leandro Trossard might bring real threats in Manchester United’s defence. Another notable name to watch is Tariq Lamptey who excels in acceleration and pace.
In Solskjaer’s squad, Bruno Fernandes is the key man who will anchor the attack as the number ten. The Portuguese international’s burden might be eased by the arrival of Danny Van de Beek since Paul Pogba is still injured.
Brighton vs Manchester United Prediction
Graham Potter’s men know it will not be easy to snatch a victory over Marcus Rashford and Co, despite playing at their home turf. The visitor side has something to turn things round, their winning mentality. Once they regain it, there is no way to stop them from winning. The least Brighton could do to avoid such by attempting to frustrate their attacking lines plus scoring goals as early as possible to put them on more pressure.
The punters apparently still back United to win with their odds at 1.77, whereas the home side’s win market is only at 4.55. The draw result is at the value of 3.55.
