Let the games begin! The Fifa World Cup 2018 draw was released on Friday in Russia’s capital,Moscow. The draw brings a string of surprises as African teams find themselves sandwiched among world heavyweights while England,Germany and Spain miraculously avoid each other.

In group A, Egypt draws hosts Russia,Saudi Arabia and 2010 semi-finalists,Uruguay. It is almost similar to Group B where another African heavyweight Morocco,is drawn against 2010 champions Spain,2016 Euro champions Portugal and Iran.

1998 World Cup champions France are drawn in arguably the easiest group, against Australia,Peru and Denmark, all of whom are underdogs in world tournament.

In Group D,it is another World Cup,another draw pitting Nigeria and Argentina. The Super Eagles were drawn against the South Americans in 2014 tournament in Brazil and will yet again square out in Russia. Iceland and Croatia join in the group and it promises to be an exciting one.

Defending champions Germany are in group F with Mexico, Sweden and South Korea. This is the group of death perhaps.

England who has never lost a competitive match to Belgium in 21attempts are drawn against each other in group G along with Tunisia and Panama.

Senegal and Poland are joined in group H by Colombia and Japan. It looks a tougher test for the Lions of Teranga who will have to battle out world greats in Robert Lewandowski and James Rodriguez.

The first match of the tournament will be Russia vs Saudi Arabia.
