– The pundit ignited mixed reactions after dragging injured Pogba into United’s on-field woes
– United succumbed to another defeat at the hands of Burnley on Wednesday, January 23
– Pogba , on the other hand, has only made a handful of appearances for the Red Devils this season
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba wasn’t even on the pitch when his side lost to Burnley at Old Trafford but somehow he was dragged into the conversation.
Renown pundit and former player Jason McAteer was particularly on the spot for a greater part of Thursday, January 23 for his diagnosis of United’s inherent problem.

The Red Devils are a shadow of their former glory selves and lie a lowly fifth in the Premier League, with their hopes for Champions League football predictions next season hanging in the balance.
Their latest defeat to struggling Clarets pretty much summed up Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, and millions of fans and pundits had different elements to blame.
While some pointed a finger at Solskjaer, others blamed director of football Ed Woodward while keen observers threw the blame at players who did little to take their created opportunities on the pitch.
McAteer however had a different analysis of United’s woes, which he claims boil down to their own record signing.
According to the 48-year old, Pogba simply doesn’t fit into the United squad and Ferguson was right to get rid of him initially.
He goes on to claim the World Cup winner only upsets the dressing room and is not necessarily a positive influence on the younger players.
“Is it commercial? Did they bring in back commercially because to me he just upsets the dressing room,” he said in a pundit session on Bein Sport.
McAateer, who at one point was a focal Liverpool midfielder, says United should invest in a lethal front three which can seamlessly integrate – Liverpool style.
“You need players inside the dressing room who do the right things, Manchester United don’t have that,”
Pogba currently faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines and has only made a handful of appearances this season.
His agent Mino Raiola is also not a huge United fan and has been on record accusing the club of undermining his player with all speculation of his astronomical wages and future.
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes also weighed in on the Pogba situation as he analysed the Frenchman won’t be of much help even if he recovers from injury.
“I don’t think Pogba is on his way back from injury and even if he is , he will be moaning about something else to try not to play,” Scholsey said.
