Sports Kenya had earlier banned Gor Mahia from hosting the match at Kasarani after an incident during the match against Hull City last Sunday where chairs and other properties were reportedly destroyed by a group of fans who were trying to gain access to the stadium.
Upon intervention from Football Kenya Federation (FKF), Gor was allowed to host the match at Kasarani but fans will not be allowed into the stadium.
However it’s reported that the fans will not be allowed into the stadium to watch the fixture following the unexpected events at the refurbished Kasarani Stadium.
Speaking during the pre-match press conference Gor Mahia skipper Harun Shakava urged the government to allow the fans access the Stadium and cheer them on as the seek to register a positive result against the Algerians.
“Gor Mahia is a community club that purely depends on fans and my humble appeal to the government is to allow fans to access Kasarani stadium to support the team. We hugely need their support in this match.” He said
The match will be played on Wednesday 16th from 1900hrs.
