- AFC Leopards star Elvis Rupia has set a target on a time limit of 2021 Africa cup of nation qualifier (AFCON). He seems ready to take the challenge of making the AFCON national team line up next time. He struggles at Wazito but he is now seeing light at the end of a tunnel.
Harambee stars are set to host Comoros on March 25th and Rupia is convinced that his on-form display this season at Leopards has caught the attention of head coach, Francis Kimanzi. Since his move to AFC, he has backed four times and he is posing a threat to the golden boot this season. It won’t be a surprise if Kimanzi calls him for he had been summoned earlier in 2019 but he was not capped.
“I believe my form is enough to convince the national team bench for call up. Last time I made it to the provisional squad but I have a target of breaking into the final team and eventually making my debut. To achieve this I have to keep on scoring as many goals as I can since the competition is high in the star team,” Rupia said.
“The environment at leopard is different from the one I enjoyed at Wazito. I have the luxury of clocking 90 minutes and the coach has patience and understands my strengths. He has instilled self believe and this has helped me regain my form even though I am yet to hit my best,” Rupia said.
He attributed all this rise in the form to patience and team spirit. Rupia is loving life at Ingwe and enjoys his rediscovered form. He believes with hard work, patience, and team spirit all will be well and things will work out with time.
