Preview and Prediction
Serie A 2020/21 already began last week but this weekend will be the opening match for Inter Milan after their late fixtures in Europa League, in which they lost in a dramatic final. They will be hosting Fiorentina, the regular mid-table team after their return to Serie A in the late 2000s due to being involved in the Calciopoli. Conte’s men surely do not want to waste any game for negative result. Only three point counts if they really aim to topple the reigning Champions, Juventus, this season.
The teams’ updated news
Nerrazurri has been quite busy in this summer transfer window. They managed to sign five new faces, three of which are well-known figures such as Arturo Vidal, Alexander Kolarov and former Madrid and Dortmund man Achraf Hakimi. Moreover, they tied some loanees permanently including Alexis Sanchez, Nico Barella and Stefano Sensi and sold Mauro Icardi, Yann Karamoh, Borja Valero and Andrea Pinamonti.
La Viola also has done the same. They have captured AC Milan’s Giacomo Bonaventura and Borja Valero for free plus sealed permanent contract for Pol Lirola, Alfred Duncan and Christian Kouame. They will be filling the void in the midfield and forward after selling the Argentine Giovanni Simeone to Cagliari and Jordan Veretrout to Roma.
Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 formation will still be deployed here with the possible transition to 3-4-1-2 to accommodate the Danish international Cristian Eriksen for the number 10 role behind the dynamic duo, Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez. For this upcoming fixture, only Matteo Vecino is sidelined.
In Fiorentina, Guiseppe Iachini is likely to be in favour of the similar formation as his counterpart, besides possible transition to 3-4-3. Federico Chiesa, Christian Kouame or Patrick Cutrone and Franck Ribery are the best option for the front three. Erick Pulgar is the only name on the injury table at the moment.
Players to watch
Inter under Conte counts on Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez more as the main scorer. Some other notable figures to watch here are Christian Eriksen, their new signing Achraf Hakimi and the two Gli Azzurri’s future stars in the midfield, Nico Barella and Stefano Sensi.
La Viola’s stars at the moment are Federico Chiesa and Franck Ribery. The latter is expected to improve his form after spending his first season longer on an injury table. Another notable name to watch is Gaetano Castrovili, the winning goal scorer in their opening match.
Inter vs Fiorentina Prediction
It is perfect one to start well for Conte’s men. Playing at their home turf with some new signings, they should have the advantage to secure a win here. Unless Fiorentina can come up with stunning tactical changes, Romelu Lukaku and Co will have no difficulty to snatch maximum points here.
Nerazzurri is absolutely the clear favourite. Their win market is at 1.45, whereas La Viola is only projected to win at 6.65. The odds for the draw result are at the value of 4.40.
