- It used to be the European countries only but now it is spreading to Africa, Kenya. Are we going to see more of former players taking the technical bench?
Former Kenya international midfielder Simeon Mulama has been appointed as the technical director of Gogo Boys Fc. It used to be the English players making the technical bench of their former teams. Kenyan football is reforming and adapting the home crown player to be their future leaders. I do say this is westernized and believe me it should be us (Kenyans) who get things done. We know our game, we understand our culture and we will rewrite history.
In what seems to be a step in the right direction, this news came as a surprise to the club interim coach( Wilberforce Kisira) being confirmed as the new head coach from his promising previous results two wins and a draw.
“This has come as a surprise, the agreement was for them to asses me after five matches,” he said
Mulama on taking the directorate post of the small Kibera-base side division two football club (Gogo Boys FC) appreciated the consideration and applaud the head coach saying, “we have a good coach who has shown his abilities and the players respect him and I think we have the right environment to make it to the KPL”.
He was tasked to get the club on the top flight by 2023. Club patron Dr. Ahmed Kelebie also said, “we have faith in him to bring technical expertise that we have been missing for us to move to the FKF Division one.”
The big question is, “Is this where to start, bringing experienced versatile players who understand the game to get it done?” we are yet to see if it’s the solution to our Kenyans football predictions.
