Kakamega Homeboyz trash Chemelil 6 goals to climb second!

  • Although it was an entertaining afternoon at the Green Stadium, the show at Buhkungu Stadium made the headline. It was a match of its own taking Kakamega Homeboyz to second place and that will be a challenge to maintain the position.

Despite the financial struggle on the KPL, it was yet another busy weekend that saw a total of 29 goals scored (11 Saturday and 18 on Sunday). On Saturday 5 matches were scheduled to play but one was postponed (Kisumu All-Stars vs Sony Sugar).

It was Kakamega Homeboyz who stole the show on Sunday afternoon with a 6-0 thrashing of Chemelil Sugar at Bukhungu Stadium to move second on the Kenya Premier League (KPL). All eyes were on the Gor versus Zoo match at the Green Stadium but, the western champions stole the show with a surprise 6-0 win.

On an entertaining afternoon, Gor pulls a 90-minute late winner from Onyango to make it 2-3 to deny Zoo a point. Zoo took a lead on 28 minutes from Ondati but Ronack equalized on the 53rd Minute.

Nicolas Kipkurui, former Zoo striker equalize Odongo’s second goal to level the score to 2-2 at 77 minute. A goal he refused to celebrate as an honor to his home ground team. He reminded his former employee that he is still one of the best strikers in the league. The score sheet didn’t stop and it was the 90th minute winner from Onyango which separated the tie. An away win at the Green Stadium took Gor to 48 points, 4 clear points from number two.
