20 Kenyan members of parliament have faced the wrath of citizens online after images emerged on social media showing the legislators having fun in Luzhniki stadium during the semi-final match pitting England and Croatia on Wednesday.
Sportika understands that the legislators, 14 of whom are members of the national assembly while six drawn from the senate went to Russia on a full government-sponsored trip to Russia to study how to host tournaments, in this case the World Cup.
They were also expected to have firsthand experience on international football tournaments, understand international standards that can form deliberations on sports development in Kenya according to an earlier report on the Star.
Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga was the first to post her picture alongside her Siaya counterpart James Orengo during the England vs Croatia match. Of interest is that Kenya’s Ministry of Sports led by Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa reportedly turned down the offer from the national government.
Here are some of the reactions posted on social media:

What do Kenyan MPs smoke?
So we sent 20MPs to Russia to benchmark on how to host tournaments at Bukhungu stadium or Kamukunji grounds.
