Kenya’s Rising Stars to battle Tanzania in Cecafa U-17 semis

Kenya under 17 national team will on Wednesday 25th ,2018 face neighbors Tanzania in the ongoing CECAFA under 17 championships in Burundi.

The rising stars who registered mixed results in the group stages of the championship will be looking to book a place in the finals.

The team started the competition on a higher note thrashing hosts 4-0 in the opening group game but  failed to replicate the same in the next two fixtures drawing with Ethiopia before losing 1-0 to minnows Somalia in the last group game.

Tanzania under 17 team, the Serengeti Boys pulverized Sudan 6-0 in the last group game and will be an uphill task for the rising stars.

In the other semifinals match 2009 championship winners Uganda will be facing off with the unrated Somalia who progressed to the semifinals after Ethiopia who had beat them 3-1 were disqualified from the competition over age cheating claims.

The semis will be played concurrently on Wednesday with Somalia hosting Uganda at Gitega as Tanzania invites Kenya at Muyinga. Both ties kick off at 3pm.

The winning teams will battle it out in the final on Sunday in Ngozi, while those who will lose in the semis will see off each other a day before.

Somalia (A1) vs Uganda (B2)– Gitega Stadium

Tanzania (B1) vs Kenya (A2) – Muyinga Stadium
