Preview and Prediction
This is the decisive match for both teams’ fate which of them will be qualifying to the Champions League. They are only separated by one point on the table. The Red Devils are on the third with 63 points while The Foxes are on the fifth with 62 points. For the visitor, a win would be a safe option to secure their place. Yet, for Brandon Rodgers’ men, they need more than three points to finish on the top four. Their future in continental competition also relies on Chelsea’s result against Wolverhampton. No wonder that this will be one of the ultimate clashes in this season’s rivalry.
The teams’ previous matches
The Foxes were hammered in the previous game at Tottenham stadium. Jose Mourinho’s men smashed them 3-0. James Justin’s own goal and Harry Kane’s brace marked their third consecutive win and their fifth unbeaten run. Sadly, this result cost their position on the top four. Now they have to struggle to get it back.
Manchester United were held in 1-1 draw while hosting West Ham in the midweek. Ole Solksjaer’s men even conceded first by Michael Antonio’s penalty. Luckily, their youngster Mason Greenwood saved their day from the loss.
Brendan Rodgers has modified his regular 4-1-4-1 formation to 3-4-3. Jamie Vardy is the main scorer supported by Ayoze Perez and Harvey Barnes. Demarai Gray and Kelechi Iheanacho can come off the bench to break the deadlock at the second half. Unfortunately, there are seven players ruled out for this match, including the key men James Maddison, Ben Chillwell, Mark Albrighton, Daniel Amartey and Ricardo Perreira due to the injury, whereas Caglar Soyuncu is still serving his ban.
Ole Solksjaer’s system of play which counts on the fluidity in their attack is still his main weapon with 4-2-3-1. Bruno Fernandes is the playmaker with Paul Pogba is an anchor to keep the balance between both lines while Anthony Martial is the main forward supported by Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood.
Players to watch
Leicester still counts on the top scorer this season, Jamie Vardy who has netted 23 goals and contributed six assists this season. Some other notable men to watch are the former Newcastle man Ayoze Perez and the Danish international goalie, Kasper Schmeichel.
Meanwhile, Manchester United seems to have found a new rising star ready to shine brighter next seasons. Mason Greenwood has been the key man in Solskjaer’s squad lately. His flair reminds us to the young Robin Van Persie back in his Feyenoord’s days. That former Dutch forward who was apart of the squad winning their last EPL title in 2013 happened to inspired him too.
Leicester vs Manchester United Prediction
Jamie Vardy and Co are desperately in need of clinching maximum points to return to the Champions League next season. However, the absence of several key players might put them in difficulty to do so. The visitors, on the other hand, have been more convincing despite failing in the FA Cup and their previous fixture. It is intriguing match but the draw result seems the most reasonable for both sides.
The game is expected to be even. The home side is backed to win at 3.10, whereas The Red Devils’ win market is at 2.25. The odds for the draw result are at the value of 3.40.
