Kenya Sevens Captain Oscar Ayodi will miss the upcoming Sydney Sevens due to a cartilage injury in his left knee.
According to team manager Eric Ogweno, Ayodi will be out until late March 2018, meaning he might return during the Commonwealth games in April.
Kenya Sevens physio Lameck Bogonko said the injury happened in the period between Dubai and Cape Town 7s in 2017 with the confirmation coming at Cape Town.
The Homeboyz center will miss Hamilton, Sydney, Vancouver, Las Vegas and Hong Kong Sevens legs of the World Sevens Series.
Billy Odhiambo and Collins Injera are yet to recover with fears that they will miss Sydney and Hamilton Sevens but the team’s management expects them to be ready for Las Vegas and Vancouver Sevens legs.
Andrew Amonde, who had a hernia injury last year, is back in training and is up for selection for the Sydney and Hamilton Sevens.
Sydney Sevens is set for January 26-28 in Australia before the core teams head to Hamilton a week later.
