Kenyan International Peter Pinchez Opiyo has joined Finnish top-tier side SJK Seinäjoki on a free transfer.
The former Thika United, AFC Leopards and Tusker FC midfielder was on the verge of joining Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Posta Rangers FC at the beginning of the season after his contract with Qatari side Al Markhiya lapsed but he intentionally refused to put pen to paper as he was eager to move abroad.
Opiyo, who has also previously played for Finnish side FF Jaro, joins the team alongside two other signings, Ukranian Denys Oliynyk and Trinidad and Tobago’s national team player Shahdon Winchester.
“Peter is a midfielder who thinks really fast. He is a real feeder with high quality passes and works very hard. He usually runs the most miles of the team and never gives up. As a character he is also very friendly and very good dresser. He remains calm on the pitch and never panics, so he brings us a lot of confidence in the field.” SJK Head Coach Alexei Eremenko is quoted as saying in the club portal.
Pinchez and the other signings join the club on one-year deals with the options to extend for a further year.
