While most of the teams traveling to Russia for the Fifa World Cup which kicks off on Thursday donned official suits, Nigeria and Senegal chose to make it a little different.
The two teams, which arrived in Russia in different times dressed in more traditional African regalia, sending a message that they indeed feel proud of the African continent for whom they represent in this year’s tournament, alongside Morocco and Tunisia.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria, captained by former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi donned a sophisticated but well embroidered white traditional ‘buba’ as it’s commonly known. They then clad it with white sole-less shoes.
Senegal too had a similar dressing style in denim traditional buba led by West Ham midfielder Chekou Kuyate.
