Gylfi Sigurdsson insists Everton are intent on producing a performance that will entertain the Goodison Park crowd when the Toffees take on Gor Mahia in the SportPesa Trophy on Tuesday night.
The in-form Icelander – who has six goals to his name already this season – says the Blues will be aiming to maintain their momentum after their impressive 3-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
Marco Silva’s side produced some sparkling football against the Seagulls as they wrapped up their third home victory on the spin.
Sigurdsson says Everton will again be aiming to showcase their attacking quality when Gor Mahia visit L4 for the 7pm kick-off. The Kenyan champions won the right to face the Toffees at the Grand Old Lady after retaining the SportPesa Super Cup with a 2-0 win over Simba SC Tanzania in June.
“It will be a different kind of game against Gor Mahia,” Sigurdsson said. “But the boys are looking forward to it and hopefully we can entertain the crowd.
“In the last few games we have been very strong at home.
“We are all enjoying playing here and I think you can see that in our performances.”
Everton travelled to Tanzania in July 2017 to face inaugural SportPesa Super Cup winners Gor Mahia in a game the Blues won 2-1.
While in Tanzania, the Toffees, alongside SportPesa, won hearts and minds in the region when they took part in a range of promotional and charitable activities across Dar es Salaam.
