- The Kakamega Homeboyz players were faced with claims of predetermining the results of their matches last season. The claims were taken up by FIFA who found the players guilty of the offend yesterday.
The disciplinary committee of FIFA has banned three players for four years due to football irregularities. The three Kenyan players are said to have allegedly fixed the match results
The 3 Kenyan footballers were featured for Kakamega Homeboyz last season. As a result, the Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula fired the Homeboyz head coach Paul Nkata.
In addition, the Homeboyz technical bench conducted an internal investigation on the entire back of the squad because the manner by which the players conceded the goals was questionable.
The alleged irregularity was taken by FIFA disciplinary committee and the three players were found guilty. This vice is contrary to article 69 of the disciplinary code.
The three players were Festus Okiring, Moses Chikati and Festo Omukoto. They have been barred from playing for the national team and the club.
“Moreover, the following individuals have been banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level (administrative, sports or any other) for a period of four years,” read a statement from Fifa.
The KDF side, Ulinzi stars had signed Okiring during the recently closed January Window transfer and Ulinzi were willing to offer him military training. Omukoto was also signed by Western Stima.
While all these are happening, former Homeboyz player, George Mandela has been completely banned from engaging in a football activity due to conspiracy.
“In particular, given his central role in the conspiracy, the player George Mandela, the Ugandan has been banned from taking part in any of football-related activity at national and international level (administrative, sports or any other) for life,” said the statement
