Two teams which were once competing in the mid lower table of Premier League are now squaring off in the second tier. However, only one of them still has a chance to make their return to the top flight. Blackburn is now lying on the eighth in the standings only separated by one point from Preston on the sixth. This weekend, Stuart Downing and Co will be taking on Wigan, which sits on the seventeenth, on the road.
Both teams’ previous matches
Wigan Athletic marked their return after the restart with a positive result while travelling to Huddersfield. They won 2-0 over the host. Jamal Lowe and the former Norwich man, Anthony Pilkington scored the winning goals.

In Blackburn, their top performers this season are the 22-year old defender Tosin Adarabioyo, the Irish Darragh Lenihan and the former Liverpool man, Stuart Downing who is also currently the top assists provider with eight assists so far. Some other notable names to watch are the twenty-three year old Scottish forward, Adam Amstrong who has contributed twelve goals and six assists, and the former Schalke and Tottenham man, Lewis Holtby.
Wigan vs Blackburn Prediction
Paul Cook’s side might be in difficulty to secure three points here despite their positive trend. The visitor has better squad with more experienced key men who could be a game changer eventually. A narrow win for Blackburn is more likely.
